HYROX is the global fitness racing phenomenon that combines running with eight functional workout stations — and Trailhead Athletics brings it straight to Bellingham. Our HYROX training program is purpose-built to prepare you for race day, whether you're competing for the first time or chasing a personal record. Every session mirrors the demands of the actual event: sustained aerobic output paired with heavy, skill-based functional movements that challenge your entire body. Expect sled pushes and pulls, ski ergs, rowing, burpee broad jumps, sandbag lunges, wall balls, and farmers carries — all coached with precision so you move efficiently and stay healthy. This is race-specific prep that also makes you a more complete, capable athlete inside and outside the gym.

Race-Ready Programming
Every workout will focus on specific demands of a HYROX race. Some workouts will have all the movements you'll see in a race, some will have only a few focus-points. Over the course of your training program, you'll train the exact eight workout stations alongside plenty of running volume so nothing surprises you on race day.
Expert Functional Coaching
Our certified coaches break down each movement — sled, ski erg, sandbag lunges, wall balls and more — so you build efficiency and power. Proper form under fatigue is the foundation of a faster finish.
Scalable for Every Level
Whether you're a first-time competitor or a seasoned racer, workouts scale to meet you where you are. Progress is built in week over week so you arrive at the start line stronger each time.
Community & Accountability
Train alongside fellow Bellingham athletes who share your goals. The energy of a group chasing the same race keeps motivation high. Join your fellow athletes for weekly runs, either coach-led or athlete-led, at Battersby Field in Bellingham.

What is HYROX?

Do I need to be an experienced athlete to train for HYROX?
Not at all. Our HYROX training program is built for all levels, whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned competitor. Our coaches will scale every session to meet you where you are.
How is HYROX training different from CrossFit?
While both focus on functional fitness, HYROX training is specifically designed to prepare you for the race format — combining running endurance with functional movements like sled pushes, rowing, and burpee broad jumps. CrossFit is broader in scope and varies more from session to session.
How long does it take to prepare for a HYROX race?
It depends on your current fitness level, but most athletes feel race-ready within 8 to 16 weeks of consistent training. Our coaches will help you build a plan that fits your timeline and goals.
What should I expect at my first HYROX training session?
Expect a welcoming, coach-led environment where you'll get introduced to the race format, practice the functional movements, and build your running and endurance base. No experience needed — just show up ready to work.
Can I compete in HYROX even if I've never done a race before?
Absolutely. HYROX is one of the most beginner-friendly competitive fitness events out there. Many of our members complete their first race with no prior competition experience and finish feeling proud and accomplished.
